It is said that there's an interesting story behind the change of the station's name. During the Japanese colonial era, a Japanese imperial family member took a private train to this station. Upon hearing the station master repeatedly call out 'Jiadongjiao,' he was quite displeased because it sounded similar to the Japanese phrase for 'lower-class guest.' Later, he learned that it was the station's name and not an intentional insult. He then ordered the 'unpleasant' name to be changed to 'Huatan.' Upon exiting the station, visitors can find a bicycle rental point set up by enthusiastic locals, making it convenient for travelers to cycle around Huatan.
