Taiwan Crafts House - Taoyuan Workshop

Hsu Tsung-Huan was born in Dacheng, Changhua in 1965. Hsu Tsung-Huan creates pottery that, beyond its inherent functionality, conveys many intrinsic ideas and thoughts through his works. Each of his hand-pinched pottery pieces is unique and imaginative, brimming with the rustic charm of traditional Taiwanese villages, and serving as a reminiscence of childhood memories. Rural elements such as casuarina trees, widespread peanut fields, frogs in ditches, and fallen deadwood by the roadside are vividly incorporated into his pottery creations. In 2003, he won the Huangxi Award in the three-dimensional category at the 4th Huangxi Art Exhibition. In 2007, he received the 'Taiwan Crafts House' certification from the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute. In 2011, he was selected as one of Changhua County's '100 Outstanding Figures of the Century'. In 2012, he won the Bronze Award at the 4th Ceramic Golden Pot Award. In 2014, he received the '2014 17th Global Love of Life Award' from the Chou Ta-Kuan Cultural & Educational Foundation. Taoyuan Workshop was established in the 1990s, infusing this remote area with an artistic and cultural space for appreciating and creating pottery, enjoying tea, and passing on craft skills. Through the molding of clay, a profound connection to the earth is conveyed, giving the teapots, beyond their function and aesthetic appeal, an added warmth.
