Yuanlin Hengwen Temple

Hengwen Temple, located in Yuanlin City, Changhua County, primarily worships Xuantian Shangdi (Emperor Xuanwu). It is renowned for its colossal statue of Xuantian Shangdi, standing nearly 10 stories high, making it the tallest statue of Xuantian Shangdi in Southeast Asia. In recent years, miraculous occurrences have been discovered: inside the Xuantian Shangdi statue, on the 4th floor near the heart area, in front of the shrine, there is a small section of flooring, approximately 50 cm by 50 cm. When you stand on it, you will feel a warm temperature, but you cannot feel it with your hands. It is highly recommended to experience and try it, to personally feel this divine manifestation. Historical research confirms that the grand statue of Xuantian Shangdi at Hengwen Temple is the largest Xuantian Shangdi statue nationwide. Inside the grand statue, besides enshrining Doumu Yuanjun (the Mother of the Big Dipper) and the Sixty Star Generals (Tai Sui), Pingtung artisans were specially commissioned to paint murals on the inner walls. These murals, based on historical records of Xuantian Shangdi's cultivation and enlightenment brought back from Wudang Mountain in mainland China, have become the most complete depiction of Xuantian Shangdi's attainment of enlightenment, unique in Taiwan. They are exceptionally rich in religious art and value. Various media outlets have vied to report on it, and visitors continuously flock there, jointly promoting the divine power of Xuantian Shangdi.
