The existing Shetou Doushan Ancestral Shrine is a traditional Fujian-Guangdong Han-style building from the Japanese colonial era. Its internal structure is a lift-beam timber frame, and the wood carvings are quite exquisite, especially the painted decorations which possess distinct regional characteristics. It was a collaborative project between masters from Changhua and Yunlin, and its content and themes are rich and diverse. The Doushan Ancestral Shrine suffered severe damage to parts of its main structure during the 921 earthquake. However, after reinforcement, it largely retains its original appearance but still requires restoration. The Doushan Ancestral Shrine is a clan ancestral hall, holding not only historical, cultural, and ethnic spiritual symbolic significance, but also being closely integrated with the local society and culture.
