Xihu Township Office

The Xihu Township Office was built on June 1, 1943 (Showa 18), serving as Xihu's highest administrative body at the time. After Taiwan's Retrocession, the former Xihu Zhuang was reorganized into Xihu Township, and the Zhuang Office became the Xihu Township Hall. Originally, dormitories and a duty guard room were located behind the township hall. In 1967, the dormitories were demolished, and offices were added on the southwest side. In the 1980s, the guard room was demolished, and offices were added on the southeast side. In 1982, there was an original plan to demolish the former Zhuang Office building, but it was later canceled for various reasons. It has been used as the township hall's office since 1986 and was registered as a historic building on April 10, 2002. The former Xihu Township Office is a two-story reinforced concrete and brick building with a hipped roof covered with cement tiles. The façade of the Township Office features a gable parapet roof, below which are three arched stucco decorations. Windows are on either side, with an entrance in the middle leading to a balcony. The Xihu Township Office's exterior features geometric shapes, showcasing an Art Deco architectural style. A staircase on the right side of the Township Office leads to the second floor.
