The Liu family of Shetou Yuemei originated from Nan Jing County, Zhangzhou, Fujian. Their eleventh-generation ancestor, Lord Tianji, crossed the sea to Taiwan in the mid-Kangxi era, first arriving in the Damao area of Chiayi (now Minxiong). It wasn't until the twelfth-generation ancestor, Lord Yichou, that they settled in what is now Shetou Yuemei Pond.
