Lukang Fengshan Temple

Fengshan Temple, a Quanzhou-style temple and a county-designated historic site, primarily enshrines Guangze Zunwang. Its original temple is Fengshan Temple in Nan'an County, Quanzhou Prefecture. Immigrants from Nan'an respectfully brought incense ashes to Lukang for worship, and after the temple was built, it was named Fengshan Temple. The history of Fengshan Temple dates back to its construction in the 2nd year of the Daoguang Emperor's reign (1822 AD) during the Qing Dynasty, and it was expanded in the 10th year of Daoguang's reign. Originally, it was a long, rectangular temple. Later, due to road widening, the central courtyard was dismantled, and the Sanchuan Hall (front hall) was moved backward, forming its current appearance. Today, traces of the seams remain on both sides of the Sanchuan Hall, which visitors can observe closely. Guangze Zunwang, also known as Bao'an Zunwang, is also referred to by various names such as Guo Shengwang, Guo Wanggong, and Guo Fu Shengwang. He is the most revered deity among Quanzhou people. In the central courtyard, there are steles inscribed by Jinshi (a successful candidate in the imperial examinations) Liao Chunbo and the venerable Chen Huaicheng, which are highly valuable historical documents. The left wing was once the site of a Beiguan music troupe's office. Today, only the "Yu Ruyi" (Jade Ruyi) plaque remains, and inside, Lord Su Wangye from Wanchun Temple is also enshrined. The dragon and tiger relief walls on both sides in front of the Sanchuan Hall, and the calligraphy and painting relief walls on both sides of the patio, are all made of Koji pottery. They exude an ancient charm. The temple's appearance is elegant, and its artifacts are precious, making it definitely worth a visit.
