Lukang Tianhou Temple

Lukang Tianhou Temple (National Historic Site) was founded in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and relocated in the 3rd year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign (1725). It is the only temple in Taiwan that enshrines the founding Mazu statue from the Meizhou Ancestral Temple. Over 2,000 major temples, including Beigang Chaotian Temple, Mailiao Gongfan Temple, Puzi Pei-tien Temple, and Changhua Tianhou Temple, have branched off from Lukang Tianhou Temple, spreading its spiritual influence and incense both domestically and internationally. Its devotees are found in every corner of Taiwan, and pilgrims visit in an endless stream throughout the year.
