In the 19th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1839), the Lin family of Rimao Trading Company and local gentry reverently invited the City God from Yongning (Aocheng), Quanzhou, to Lugang to establish a temple. As the Yongning City God Temple was known as 'Aoting Palace', the Lugang City God Temple also adopted 'Aoting Palace' as its name, referencing its ancestral temple. The main hall primarily enshrines the City God, who was granted the title 'Zhongyou Hou' (Loyal and Protective Marquis). Above the shrine, a plaque inscribed with 'Xieliyinyang' (Governing Yin and Yang) describes the City God's duty of overseeing both the mortal and spiritual realms.
