Dingguang Buddha Temple

Main deity: Dingguang Buddha. Historical evolution: Dingguang Buddha is a county-designated ancient monument. This temple, originally named "Dingguang Hermitage," was built in the 26th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (Qing Dynasty). After the great Changhua earthquake in the 28th year of Emperor Daoguang's reign (1848 AD), it was rebuilt by devotees such as Zhang Lianxi and renamed "Dingguang Buddha Temple." The Dingguang Buddha Temple is not outwardly striking; it has neither grand, magnificent gates nor the solemn tranquility of temples deep in the mountains. It stands in a corner of the bustling downtown area on the main avenue in front of Changhua Railway Station (No. 140 Guangfu Road), creating its own serene space. Passersby often stop in front of the temple, pressing their palms together in prayer. It is one of the oldest and most revered temples in Changhua City.
