The Bagua Mountain Range on the eastern side of Changhua is a habitat for migratory birds that pass through to overwinter each year. Among them, the most famous are the Grey-faced Buzzard and the Chinese Sparrowhawk, which stop over in Changhua during March and April around the Qingming Festival. Their numbers can reach tens of thousands (20,000 to 30,000), and when these flocks of raptors rise and circle together, the spectacular sight is breathtaking! This is Changhua County's most important bird-watching event each year, and also the best opportunity to learn about bird conservation and habitat protection.
