Erben Song Interpretation Station

Located on the Simawei Forest Road in Taian Township, Miaoli County, "Erben Song" is a place name full of Japanese charm, much like "Xuejian." Do you know how the name "Erben Song" originated? It goes back to the Japanese colonial period when the Erben Song Police Post was established here. In front of the building stood two towering pine trees, which is why people called it "Erben Song" (meaning "two pine trees"). Although the original building is no longer present, remnants of the old tree trunks can still be seen, inviting remembrance. The former site of the police post has now been redeveloped into the Erben Song Interpretation Station, staffed by indigenous interpreters and volunteers who guide visitors in exploring the rich cultural and historical sites, indigenous culture, and local ecology. On clear days, from the observation deck, one can overlook the magnificent Da'an River Valley, the eight tribes of Nansancun, and even Shilin Dam, making it the best viewpoint along the route to Xuejian. Coming to this pristine mountain forest, strolling along the beautiful forest path composed of lush bamboo groves and towering Japanese cedar and Taiwanese incense cedar, and experiencing the quiet and serene atmosphere is truly captivating and makes one want to linger.
