Old Home, a home for everyone. This is a 50-year-old house, passed down by its owner, Grandpa Chen, to his son and grandson. Chen Peng-wen (the owner), who earned a Master's degree from the Graduate Institute of Filmmaking, Directing Group, Taipei National University of the Arts, returned home after seven years away. He renovated the old house, which had been vacant for over 20 years, transforming it into "Old Home," a space open to the public. Initially, when his father learned he was returning, he was eager to tear down the house's partitions. Fortunately, he was stopped in time, preserving most of the original layout from his grandfather's era. Subsequently, several young teams, full of ideas and ideals, joined. Together, they embarked on the dreams of a young team, new operations, and heartfelt experiences. Gathering various expertise from friends and family, including elements of film, education, art, music, and cuisine, locals and returning visitors come together in this house over 50 years old. They strive towards the goal of "creating a new arts and culture hub in Miaoli," generating more inspiration and joy for this land, sharing that inspiration with every visiting friend, and looking forward to everyone's participation. The thoughtful owners designed a small courtyard where children can run around. The small house on the lawn was also designed by the owners to provide shelter for pets brought by guests. Stepping into Old Home is like entering Grandpa's era, feeling as comfortable, relaxed, and at ease as returning to an ancestral home in the countryside. It reminds Marco of his favorite childhood visits to his cousin's grandmother's house in Hukou. Beside the entrance, an old wooden school chair is placed, adorned with driftwood and pinecones. The surrounding green potted plants enhance the lush atmosphere. All the decorations you see were crafted by the young team, full of unexpected creativity at every turn.
