Luchang

Luchang, located in Donghe Village, Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, was formerly known as Jiubusi, named after the indigenous Jiubusi community that once lived there. Later, due to the abundance of deer in the Luchang mountain area, Han Chinese settlers named it Luchang when they developed Nanzhuang; it is a simple and secluded mountain community. Luchang is the furthest Atayal indigenous settlement at the source of the Zhonggang River, situated on the northeastern slope of Mount Gali and surrounded by the peaks and ridges of the Gali mountain range. Lush greenery heavily cloaks the entire area, and the magnificent mountain scenery and natural canyons give visitors the feeling of arriving in a paradise. Luchang's residents once relocated to Dongjiang New Village, above the Nanzhuang nursery, due to geological changes. However, most residents have since returned to Luchang to cultivate mushrooms and Tongcao (Tetrapanax papyriferus) for their livelihood. Due to inconvenient local transportation, the pristine natural landscape remains unchanged, featuring rolling hills, dense forests, deep valleys, and magnificent, captivating scenery.
