Nanzhuang Old Street (Osmanthus Alley)

'Osmanthus Alley', located in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County, is a small alley on Nanzhuang Old Street with a long history and a rich Hakka cultural atmosphere. Nanzhuang mainly consists of three streets, and Osmanthus Alley is nestled between two of them. Despite not having the scent of osmanthus, it is called Osmanthus Alley. The alley is about two meters wide and features vermilion brick walls. In its early days, a group of community builders and women established the 'Osmanthus Alley Workshop' to promote local culture, which is how it got its name. The alley features many small shops selling various Nanzhuang snacks, as well as laundry pits used by women in earlier times, the old post office from the Japanese occupation era, and traditional old shops selling beautiful kimonos.
