Dongli Family Tradition - Century-Old House

Yuanli Township was originally the habitat of the Taokas people (also known as Pingpu indigenous people). Before the Qing Dynasty rule, four Taokas communities, namely Fangli, Yuanli, Maoyu, and Rìběi, already resided here. In the Zhonggouwei area (the western end of the Zhonggou region), where the terrain is flat and vast, the 'Zhonggou Zheng Family Settlement' was built by our ancestors under the guidance of a master. The architectural layout of the entire 'Zhonggou Zheng Family Settlement' faces south. Observed from a distance to the south, it is backed by mountains to the north (rear) and faces a stream to the south (front). To the right is the 'Zheng Family Old House', in the center is the grand three-sided compound of 'Dongli Family Tradition', and to the left is the 'Zheng Residence' Japanese-style old building. East to west, they form an expansive super-settlement, truly magnificent. The 'Dongli Family Tradition' Sanheyuan, an old house with a three-sided compound exterior, is a rare and well-preserved red brick and tile, and Koji pottery building in Taiwan today. Under government guidance for restoration and protection, it showcases intricate and solid traditional Chinese architectural craftsmanship, exhibiting its original, exquisitely carved and meticulously crafted architectural artistic style. Along with the century-old juniper tree in front of the courtyard, and the complete Sanheyuan main building connected to four wing rooms on the left and right, it has become the most distinctive guesthouse area. It even attracts various TV stations to film scenes regularly within the old house and is also one of Yuanli Township's important tourist attractions.
