Zhaolan Arts and Culture Center

Located at the southern end of Miaoli, Zhuolan was historically known as a 'town of fruit' due to its favorable natural environment. Its abundant production of grapes, carambola (star fruit), citrus, and Asian pears are renowned throughout Taiwan for their sweet taste and excellent quality. However, despite having a population of over 20,000, this area lacked a suitable venue for cultural performances and exhibitions. Coupled with societal changes and a gradual outflow of population, local culture faced a crisis of decline. In 1995 (Republic of China Year 84), the Council for Cultural Affairs provided a budget to enhance local performance facilities. Consequently, in cooperation with the Township Office, the "Zhaolan Arts and Culture Center" was established within the Hongdao Hall of National Zhuolan Experimental High School. It features a performance hall with a capacity for 200 spectators and an exhibition hall. Although the Arts and Culture Center is not large, its performance and exhibition facilities are comprehensive, providing local residents with a stage to showcase their talents. Furthermore, outstanding artists from various regions are frequently invited, ensuring that this two-story center regularly hosts diverse performances and activities such as dance, drama, photography, music, and crafts, allowing the residents of Zhuolan Township to be immersed in the rich world of art.
