Elun Temple

Built in the 3rd year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1823 AD), Elun Temple is primarily dedicated to the Three Mountain Kings. It serves as the spiritual center for the residents of Zhuolan Township and is the oldest temple in the Zhuolan area. The temple's ancient bell has a fascinating and circuitous history. In the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), the Japanese military forcibly collected civilian copper and iron artifacts to manufacture ammunition, and the ancient bell was among those seized and submitted to the Dahu County Office. For decades, everyone believed the bell had been melted down for weapons and no longer existed. However, one day, Mr. Zhang Lichun, the temple keeper of Elun Temple, passing by the Dahu Police Station (the former site of the County Office), astonishingly recognized the "police bell" in the station's backyard as the very Elun Temple ancient bell he used to regularly polish. After multiple negotiations by the Elun Management Committee, the bell, missing for 40 years, finally returned to Elun Temple's bell tower in the 71st year of the Republic of China (1982).
