Fish Viewing Trail

Starting from June 5, 2002, a complete river closure was implemented in Xindian Village, from above Xindian Third Bridge up to Dadongshi and its tributaries, covering an area of approximately 15 kilometers. During the closure, all activities detrimental to river ecology, such as fishing, netting fish and shrimp, poisoning, or electrocuting fish, were prohibited. After more than a year of concerted effort, excellent results have been achieved. Now, the fish in the stream are big, plump, beautiful, and healthy, making it a truly captivating sight that makes people linger. To provide residents and visitors with a better place to observe fish, and also to ensure everyone's safety, Mayor Gu Yuan-yu vigorously promoted and constructed the Fish Viewing Trail. The purpose is to allow nature lovers to appreciate the beauty of the river's ecosystem and enjoy the beautiful sight of fish swimming freely in the stream in the most relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment, leaving you in awe! Moreover, unlike other places where if you want to see a few fish, you not only have to walk a long distance but you also might not even see this many, this large, and this beautiful fish. So, how can you not come? The Fish Viewing Trail is built alongside the Xindian River. You can start from Xindian Third Bridge and pass through Siyuan Bridge, to admire the beautiful scenery and views above and below Siyuan Bridge. Then, you'll pass by Shitan Junior High School, where you can incidentally listen to the sounds of students studying. Afterward, before you know it, you'll reach the Riverside Park next to Yimin Temple and the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge. Since you're here, you must walk across the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge, which is said to be a hundred years old, watching the large fish in the stream as you walk. Then, as you pass the lime kiln, take a peek to see what it looks like. After seeing that, follow the stream upstream all the way to Shidongtan. Remember! If you decide to dive from the rock wall at Shidongtan, be sure to aim carefully to avoid hitting or crushing the fish. Or, you might consider wearing a helmet before diving; that's also a good idea. Regardless of whether you dive or not, the Fish Viewing Trail emerges from Xindian Third Bridge after crossing Provincial Highway 3. At this point, you can continue along the stream to visit Qingquan Farm in Dadongshi, or head to Xiangyuan Restaurant to try the local dark horse specialty, [Black Pearl Grouper].
