Xiangshan Confucius Temple

Built in 1901, the 27th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign during the Qing Dynasty. At that time, the Japanese ruled Taiwan and actively sought to eliminate traditional Chinese culture. Local patriots therefore established Yuhang Temple as a cover, opening the Xiangshan Han Academy and enshrining a tablet for Confucius. In 1974, local gentry proposed reconstruction, making the Confucius Temple an independent entity. The Xiangshan Confucius Temple is situated on a high slope, offering panoramic views of the flat, green plains of the Miaoli Basin, with a vast and magnificent vista.
