Dashan Station

Dashan Station was inaugurated on October 11, Taisho 11 (1922). At that time, it was known as 'Dashanjiao Station,' and the continuous sand dunes in the vicinity were suitable for growing watermelons. During the Japanese colonial period, this station was primarily used for rice transportation. Its architectural exterior and interior design fully reflect the social and historical context of that era. It is one of Taiwan's few remaining Japanese-Western eclectic wooden station buildings, serving as a representative example of small railway stations from the Japanese colonial period. However, the mountain line of the longitudinal railway had excessively steep gradients, which limited transportation efficiency. In light of this, the coastal railway was completed and opened to traffic on October 10, 1922 (Taisho 11).
