Yao Po Mountain Tourist Agricultural Zone

Yao Po Mountain is located south of the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters, its shape resembling a giant eagle poised for flight. In Hakka, "Yao Po" means "eagle". Yao Po Mountain is situated south of Qing'an in the lower reaches of Wenshui Stream. Its highest point is 910 meters, located at the northern end of the Malabang Mountain Range. Due to the westward-tilting rock strata within the mountain range, differential erosion has resulted in a hogback-shaped homoclinal structural topography, steep on the east and gentle on the west. It is one of Taiwan's most classic examples of hogback ridges. The geological strata of Yao Po Mountain belong to the Guantao Mountain Sandstone. Because the sandstone is calcium-rich and hard, the rock layers are uniquely prominent, shaped like a giant eagle spreading its wings, with an awe-inspiring presence. Therefore, in the past, local residents called it Yao Po Mountain.
