Shei-Pa National Park

Shei-Pa National Park was established in 1992 (the 81st year of the Republic of China). Its northern boundary is the ridge line between Biangu Yanshan and Leshan, the eastern boundary is the upper reaches of the Dajia River, the western boundary is mainly the natural ridge line from Beikengshan to Xiaoxueshan, and the southern boundary is Yurowei Mountain and the middle reaches of the Dajia River. Located at the junction of Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taichung counties, it is Taiwan's fifth officially established national park. Shei-Pa National Park is characterized by numerous towering mountains and magnificent scenery, with an elevation difference of over 3,000 meters. Centered around Xueshan (Snow Mountain), multiple ridges radiate outwards in all directions. The distant and near mountain ridges wind and extend, displaying distinct layers and majestic terrain. Among them, Xueshan and Dabajian Mountain are the most iconic. Xueshan Main Peak, located in the central part of the Xueshan Range, stands at 3,886 meters, making it the highest point of the range and Taiwan's second-highest peak. It is collectively known as the "Five Great Mountains of Taiwan" along with Yushan (Jade Mountain), Nanhu Mountain, Xiuguluan Mountain, and Beidawu Mountain. The Taiwan Prefecture Gazetteer named it Xueshan (Snow Mountain) because "its accumulated snow, clear and bright on a clear day, shines white like jade when viewed." Dabajian Mountain, at 3,492 meters, is renowned as the "Peak of the Century" for its majestic appearance, and is collectively known as the "Three Sharp Peaks of Taiwan" with Zhongyangjian Mountain and Dafencian Mountain.
