Daxingshan Temple was founded by Dharma Master Fuhui, whose life was full of legendary tales. After entering monastic life, she committed to arduous ascetic practices such as never lying down and maintaining a vow of silence, communicating with her disciples only through writing. The Dharma Master specialized in the Great Compassion Dharma practice, and her 'Great Compassion Water' was renowned far and wide, believed to cure all ailments for those who prayed devoutly. Daxingshan Temple is nestled in a tranquil setting, surrounded by lush bamboo and dense forests. Inside the main hall, Namo Guanyin Bodhisattva (Avalokiteshvara) is enshrined. Although the temple is simple and unpretentious, it attracts a thriving stream of devotees from all over Taiwan, with long queues of vehicles forming on holidays for pilgrims. On the birthdays of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the temple welcomes everyone back by providing 'Peace Tangyuan' (sweet rice balls), 'Peace Noodles,' and 'Peace Vegetarian Rice' to share the Dharma joy with all visitors.
