Trail Announcement: [The section of Youluoshan Trail from the second trailhead to the summit is temporarily closed due to forestry management and logging operations being carried out by the Hsinchu Branch of the Forest and Nature Conservation Agency. For your safety, please do not proceed to this section for now.] A misty forest path, a classic mid-altitude mountain route, and a gateway to Qingquan Hot Springs. "Youluoshan," located in Huayuan Village, Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County, is renowned as the "most beautiful mid-altitude mountain" and is one of Wufeng's three famous peaks. The trail starts from the first trailhead of the Luoshan Forest Road North Line. Along the way, layers of cedar forests provide a beautiful canopy where light and shadow dance. The trail alternates between gentle and steep slopes, taking approximately one and a half hours to reach the summit. It's a mid-altitude route that perfectly blends natural beauty with the enjoyment of hiking. Due to its location within a cloud belt, the mountainous area is frequently enveloped in thin mist, especially during early mornings and afternoons. Walking through it feels like stepping into a mystical fog-laden forest, where the hazy, dreamlike scenery brings a profound sense of peace. Even during hot summer days, the trail remains cool and pleasant, making it a treasured secret retreat for many hikers seeking respite from the heat. While the summit offers limited panoramic views, on clear days, there's still an opportunity to admire magnificent distant mountainscapes, including Mount Dabajian and the Youxia Ridge, offering a truly invigorating experience. If your physical fitness and experience allow, you can continue on to Xiashan and Maibailai Mountain, challenging the mountaineering world's renowned "You-Xia-Mai" traverse route. This journey takes 12 to 15 hours to complete and is considered a must-visit pilgrimage for mid-altitude mountain enthusiasts. Beyond hiking, don't miss the tribal experience after descending. You can visit the nearby Huayuan Tribe to immerse yourself in indigenous culture. In the winter, consider heading to the Qingquan Hot Spring area for a rejuvenating double dose of therapy with a forest bath and a hot spring bath, bringing your journey to a perfect close. It's worth mentioning that the Youluoshan Trail is also one of the designated trails for the "2025 Hsinchu Forest Tour - Pipi Lion's Expedition"! Follow Pipi Lion's footsteps, step into this misty forest sanctuary, and embark on your own mid-altitude mountain adventure! ------ Youluoshan Trail Information ------ Type: Mid-altitude mountain hiking trail Difficulty: Moderate to High Length: Approximately 3 km one-way (return via the same route) Trail Conditions: Clearly marked mountain paths, forest roads, and junctions; some sections are steep.
