Visitor Essentials

In the early days, mining was prevalent in the Neiwan area, and large numbers of workers could often be seen entering mines with shovels. Today, Tiger Hat Metalwork transforms this imagery by inviting visitors to make metal crafts with hammers, paying homage to history and allowing everyone to experience the joy of handmade creation. Whenever a child celebrates their first birthday (zhua zhou), adults place a 'tiger hat' on their head. A silver piece is sewn onto the tiger hat, and in Hakka villages, such silver pieces were traditionally given by adults to children, conveying auspicious meanings. Tiger Hat Metalwork takes its name from this tradition, transforming the adults' affection for children into blessings for its guests, hoping that every metal craft piece taken away by guests here will bring good luck. Finding metalwork design fascinating and wanting to combine it with Hsinchu's local culture, the owner of Tiger Hat Metalwork invited two designers with metalworking backgrounds to join. They renovated and transformed an originally idle small wooden house, creating an interesting and comfortable creative exhibition and sales space, inviting guests to visit. The elegant and fitting decor, combined with the tranquil space, conveys a unique aesthetic of life everywhere. On the display stands, rings, necklaces, bracelets, bangles, earrings, and other accessories are all crafted by the designers using hammers. If you prefer not to buy ready-made items, there are three live DIY workshops scheduled daily at 10 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM. You can choose the item you wish to make, personally design your preferred details, and each session is limited to four people. Within one and a half to two hours, the staff on-site will guide you through understanding the tools, techniques, and usage skills, teaching you to create a unique piece of jewelry in a short time.
