Jiuzantou Station

Jiuzantou Station is located in Hengshan Township and is an important station on Taiwan Railways' Neiwan Line. In the past, it primarily focused on freight operations, playing a crucial role, especially during the period when the Neiwan Railway was responsible for transporting Asia Cement products and raw materials. As freight volumes gradually decreased, the station transitioned into a transportation route offering tourism services. The name Jiuzantou Station comes from the nearby Jiuzantou Hakka village. It is said that in ancient times, the local ancestors discovered a giant old tree named the "Jiuzantou Tree," which they used as a landmark, subsequently naming the entire area "Jiuzantou." With the opening of the Neiwan Line, this name was adopted and became today's Jiuzantou Station. This station features a spacious station yard and track area, making it the only station on the Neiwan Line where trains can pass each other after Zhudong Station. As the station has no overpass or underpass, passengers must cross the railway tracks directly to reach the platform, which has become a significant characteristic of Jiuzantou Station. Today, the station is not only a local transportation hub but also attracts numerous tourists who come to experience its nostalgic railway charm.
