Eight-Cornered Building

From the back of the old street, head towards the Xucai Trail to discover Hukou's century-old Eight-Cornered Red Mansion. Built in the early years of the Republic of China, this site historically served as a gathering place for local gentry and merchants. The Luo family, who built it, incorporated Baroque-style red brick walls and a distinctive quadrangular structure featuring eight arches on all four sides. This elegant and historically rich building beautifully showcases Hakka characteristics. Currently, visits to the Eight-Cornered Building are by appointment only. When in Hukou, be sure not to miss this beautiful red mansion.
