Qingquan Art Forest

The Qingquan Art Forest, spanning approximately one hectare, was jointly developed by government and private sectors. It was established by renovating the long-abandoned Taoshan Police Station, police dormitories, and Taoshan Health Clinic, giving them new life and meaning. By integrating unique local resources, distinctive cultural features, and local artists, it aims to enhance the overall tourism and cultural development of the Qingquan area. In addition to its uniquely meaningful installation art pieces, the park also features a small exhibition hall, a multi-functional event space, and cultural studios for artists. Among them, the two most famous installation artworks are: 'Cocoon of the Forest,' created by land artist Lin Shun-lung using driftwood and recycled glass, symbolizing Qingquan's rebirth, emerging from its past of mudslide disasters and historical hardships like a butterfly from its cocoon; and 'Chrysalis Rebirth,' representing 'sustainability' and 'heritage.' This piece was created by international environmental art master Kang Mu-hsiang and eighteen inmates, using steel cables from an old suspension bridge as creative material and incorporating the weaving imagery of the local tribe.
