Jianshi Rock

Jianshi Rock is the landmark of Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County. Traveling upstream from Neiwan, about 400 meters northeast of the Jianshi Township Office, a Jianshi Rock stands between the Laluo and Jiale rivers. On its upper part, a century-old pine and cypress tree remains evergreen year-round, displaying a majestic form and magnificent aura. Despite prolonged erosion from wind, frost, scorching sun, and torrential rain, it still stands as it always has, symbolizing the Atayal people's spirit of bravery, loyalty, indomitable will, and resilience in the face of adversity. The area thus derives its name, Jianshi, from this rock. The rock is 35 meters long and 20 meters wide, serving as a towering natural barrier for the township. Legend has it that this pointed rock is over ten thousand years old. Below the rock, stream water babbles, and while many large stones lie in the river, this rock alone stands out majestically.
