Bailan Tribe

Wufeng Township's Taoshan is famous for its leisure fruit-picking tours, and the Bailan Tribe is particularly renowned for growing temperate fruits and vegetables. Its most famous products are "sweet persimmons" introduced from Japan and peaches. Residents primarily rely on growing peaches, sweet persimmons, and high-altitude vegetables as their main source of income. Peaches are the Bailan Tribe's star fruit, with plump flesh and a fragrant, sweet taste that leaves a lasting impression. Peach season is from June to August, kiwi fruit is available in September, and sweet persimmons in October. Throughout the year, refreshing and sweet high-altitude vegetables like cabbage, napa cabbage, and bird's nest fern are also available for a fresh taste. The Bailan Tribe is located in the southwestern mountainous area of Wufeng Township, a traditional Atayal tribe nestled amidst majestic mountains and ridges. Due to its remote location, it has preserved the most pristine and natural mountain forest scenery. Situated at an altitude of 1000 meters, the mountains are often enveloped in high-altitude clouds and mist every afternoon. The Bailan Tribe currently has several homestays, all operated by local Atayal fruit farmers who have transitioned their businesses. These homestays combine eco-tours, hunting experiences, fruit picking, traditional weaving instruction, and Atayal cuisine, allowing visitors to deeply experience Atayal culture. From sunrise to sunset, beautiful scenery abounds in Bailan. Undisturbed original bamboo forest hiking trails, vast and boundless seas of clouds, historical Japanese colonial era ancient cannon fort ruins, and relaxing hot springs can all be personally experienced in the Bailan Tribe.
