Stroll across Qingquan No. 2 Suspension Bridge, feel the gentle mountain breeze, and at the end, discover lush greenery offering abundant shade. This is Taoshan Elementary School, a tribal school enveloped by the verdant mountains and forests. Ascending the steps, you'll find the inner and outer walls of the campus adorned with unique Atayal tribal totem murals and mosaic patterns. A century-old zelkova tree stands proudly beside the red and white school track, undeterred by wind and rain. Surrounding it are traditional Atayal bamboo houses, granaries, and defensive watchtowers, showcasing the early lifestyle of the Atayal people! Although Taoshan Elementary School has endured natural disasters, it shows no sorrow from the ravages of the storms. Instead, it is an innocent paradise filled with art and the melodies of nature. Typhoon Aere in 2004 caused significant damage to Taoshan Village. The suspension bridge in front of Taoshan Elementary School was washed away by the floodwaters, completely cutting off transportation. However, the school was not defeated by the disaster. After years of collective effort by teachers and students, an Atayal Cultural Center was established within the school, exhibiting numerous Atayal cultural relics. Additionally, Indigenous cultural assets such as "Traditional Atayal Granaries" and "Traditional Atayal Bamboo Houses" can be found. It is well worth visiting and experiencing.
