Sanmao Dream House

'If you say a thousand goodnights to the forest consecutively, your wish will come true!' - A Thousand Goodnights. Located fifty meters above the Taoshan Village Suspension Bridge, this red-brick wooden house was once a temporary residence where renowned writer Sanmao sought inspiration, before it became a popular filming location for TV dramas and films. It has now been transformed into a tourist attraction showcasing Sanmao's works and photographs. Along the path, signs featuring selected writings by Sanmao guide fans into her story base. When you're tired from exploring, head to the outdoor dining area, choose a spot where the drama's protagonists, Cheng Nuo and Tian Qing, once sat, and immerse yourself in the mountain scenery of Wufeng, letting your mind wander and relaxing. Sanmao once said: 'Silence is nature's hush; it is being alone, but not lonely.' Though her life was marked by solitude, her writings and harmonious coexistence with nature left countless beautiful poems in these mountains and forests. Today, Sanmao's former residence has become the 'Sanmao Dream House,' a pilgrimage site for literature enthusiasts. Currently, the 'Sanmao Dream House' displays a wealth of historical materials from Sanmao's life, along with photographs of her with Father Timothy Ting (丁松青神父) that he provided. Standing before the red-brick house, one inadvertently drifts back in time, thoughts wandering with Sanmao, sensing her poignant sighs lost amidst the intertwining of time and space.
