Daifudi Residence, Liuzhangli, Zhubei

The Daifudi Residence was originally an ancestral hall founded by Lin Xiankun, named 'Shanqing Hall'. Later, during the Lin Shuangwen Incident, Lin Xiankun organized a militia to defend his homeland and assisted the government army in quelling the rebellion. He also established public graves and a Yimin Temple, and undertook various public welfare deeds such as donating sacrificial land and building bridges. His third son, Lin Guobao, also actively participated in local public welfare, having assisted in the reconstruction of the Zhujian city walls. In the 23rd year of Jiaqing's reign (1818), he petitioned the imperial court to posthumously confer the title of 'Fengzhi Daifu' upon two generations of his ancestors. Upon receiving imperial approval, Lin Xiankun was granted the title of Fengzhi Daifu. According to descriptions from the Lin family, that year Lin Guobao grandly returned to his hometown bearing the imperial edict. In early winter, a grand ceremony was held at the Lin family's ancestral hall, 'Shanqing Hall,' where the imperial edict conferring the titles was enshrined in the 'Edict Tower' within the hall. Shanqing Hall was subsequently renamed 'Daifudi Residence'.
