A mythical rock, crouching in the valley for a thousand years, witnesses a magnificent dialogue between nature and history. On the mountain road leading to Smangus, Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County, lies an astonishing natural wonder: Frog Rock. This colossal rock, nestled in the Naluo River Valley, not only resembles a frog in shape but also carries an ancient legend: Long ago, a large frog leaped across the valley in pursuit of a pair of mosquitoes and flies, but was blocked by a steep cliff. It could only gaze at the mountain peak, unwilling to leave for a long time. After enduring centuries of wind and rain, it eventually transformed into a massive rock, standing silently in the river valley. Jinping Village, home to Frog Rock, boasts majestic terrain with a deep river valley. Below lies an unfathomable canyon, surrounded by lush forests and a magnificent 40-meter waterfall, whose powerful flow creates an awe-inspiring spectacle. Follow the natural trail downwards to enter this beautiful secret realm hidden deep within the mountains. This is not only a masterpiece of nature but also one of the filming locations for the epic movie "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale." The primitive and majestic mountain forest scenes in the film were shot here, adding a touch of cultural memory and cinematic ambiance to this land. Due to its multifaceted charm, combining natural wonders, indigenous legends, and cinematic scenery, Frog Rock was honored with the "Top 100 Tourist Attractions" award in 2025, making it an unmissable landmark in Jianshi Township.
