Jiang Axi Mansion

The Beipu Jiang Axi Mansion is located among national monuments such as Beipu Jin Guangfu Hall and Tianshui Hall, and the county-designated monument Beipu Citian Temple, occupying an important position in the Beipu historic district. Beyond its historical significance in the development of the Da'ai area, its architecture also represents the unique characteristics of Beipu's development during the Japanese colonial period. It is currently designated as a county-level monument. Jiang Axi, born in Meiji 34 (1901), served as the chairman of Zhudong Tea Co., Ltd. After Taiwan's retrocession, he founded Yongguang Co., Ltd., engaging in black tea exports. He was a wealthy Beipu merchant who started his business in tea, and later also served as a provisional provincial assembly member of Taiwan Province. Jiang Axi's residence was constructed in Min Guo 35 (1946) and completed in Min Guo 38 (1949). At that time, Mr. Jiang's business was at its peak, and this luxurious mansion was built to accommodate foreign guests and serve as a residence. The construction of Jiang Axi's residence was designed by local Zhudong architect Peng Yuli, adopting a Western-style design, and both its materials and craftsmanship were exceptionally meticulous.
