Visitor Essentials
Burden-Free Farm, located in Huguang Village, is nestled within this simple Hakka farming community. As more local farmers embrace organic farming, they protect the land and ecosystem through eco-friendly methods, gradually restoring local biodiversity. When you visit Burden-Free Farm, be sure to experience farm activities firsthand. Depending on the season, visitors can participate in farming experiences such as transplanting rice seedlings or harvesting rice, getting hands-on with the land and learning about natural farming methods. Additionally, you can enter the duck shed to collect duck eggs and make red clay salted duck eggs, enjoying a fun DIY experience. After picking up duck eggs in the duck shed, return to the classroom, evenly mix red clay with salt, gently coat the duck eggs, and then roll them in rice bran to ensure the red clay adheres thoroughly. Finally, use banana leaves instead of plastic bags as packaging material, embodying the eco-friendly and sustainable "burden-free" philosophy. After letting them sit in a cool, dark place at home for about a month, wash off the red clay, steam them, and then you can savor these delicious handmade salted duck eggs.
