Visitor Essentials

Hankeng Community, located in Xinpu Township, is a typical rural village. The community earned its name 'Hankeng' (dry pit) because of its impermeable, hard ground, where rainwater cannot soak in and there is no natural water source. The main attractions in Hankeng Community include the Centennial Cool Well, the Loan-lending Earth God Temple, the Stone Bo Gong Temple, Japanese Park, and charcoal kilns. Besides persimmons renowned throughout Taiwan, pears and citrus are also very famous local agricultural products in Hankeng Community. In addition to supplying products such as persimmon cakes, dried persimmons, and persimmon frost, the community also provides industrial and ecological guided tours, persimmon dyeing DIY, outdoor educational program planning, and other experiential activities like persimmon dyeing and Hakka sleeve lion making. The production method for Hakka sleeve lions is very simple: paint the lion head with acrylic materials, add your favorite colors, then attach a sleeve to the lion head with hot glue. Worn on your hand, it becomes a fun Hakka children's toy.
