Visitor Essentials
Winding up the mountain road in Qixing Village, Emei Township, you'll find farmlands abundant with Ponkan and Sugar Tangerines, their fragrance filling the air. Stepping into Jixiang Farm, you're greeted by an orchard of naturally growing fruit trees. On the fruit trees, you can see signs of insect damage and mottled peels—this is the characteristic of 'scorched tangerines,' cultivated without pesticides, following nature for a non-toxic harvest. Although the tangerines here may not have a perfect appearance, they are intensely fragrant, sweet with a hint of sourness, and offer a unique flavor. The farm insists on not using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, and even natural amendments are largely avoided. This allows the orchard to become a habitat for creatures like pangolins, frogs, bees, and spiders, embodying ecological symbiosis and land sustainability. Jixiang Farm manages its orchard using natural farming methods, allowing the fruit trees and the land to coexist and flourish. The orchard preserves old tangerine trees over twenty years old and manages pests and diseases manually, for example, by pruning dead branches and burning diseased plants, to maintain the orchard's health. This respect and persistence towards the land have earned the farm Green Conservation certification and allowed it to pass multiple food safety inspections, ensuring every tangerine can be enjoyed with peace of mind. Besides fresh fruit, the farm also uses Ponkan peels in baking and desserts, offering specialty products such as orange-scented European bread and Italian handmade ice cream. The bread ingredients include only orange peel, wheat flour, water, yeast, and salt—simple and pure, yet infused with a rich fruity aroma and the warmth of the land. Jixiang Farm is not just an orchard; it's also a healing space to experience natural farming methods and feel the power of the land. Whether tasting the orange-scented bread, picking fruit in the orchard, or simply listening to the chirping of insects and birds in the mountains, this place allows people to slow down and reconnect with nature and their inner selves.
