Hsinchu County Archives Museum

To preserve relevant archives following the division of Hsinchu County and City, the collection of the Hsinchu Prefecture Library from the Japanese colonial period, and other historical materials and documents that might otherwise be lost, the preparatory office for the Hsinchu County Archives Museum was established in 1999. It actively sought subsidies from the Hakka Affairs Council for its construction, receiving full support from the Hsinchu County Government. Through the concerted efforts of all parties, construction finally commenced in 2005, and the museum successfully opened on August 31, 2008. The primary functions of the Hsinchu County Archives Museum are to collect and preserve official and private archival materials. Its architectural concept blends the ideas of 'Hakka walled compounds' and 'courtyard designs.' The interior space is divided into six main areas: document reading, archives center, exhibition space, research and restoration, administrative management, and service areas. The Archives Museum serves as Hsinchu County's reception hall, where visitors can explore the past, understand the present, and contemplate the future. In addition to functioning as a local education center and a research hub, it forms a 'Hakka cultural iron triangle' dedicated to promoting traditional spirit, alongside Yimin Temple and National Chiao Tung University's College of Hakka Studies.
