Guansi Township, thanks to the thriving development of its xiancao (grass jelly) industry, has revitalized its gradually declining agricultural production by discovering unique development opportunities, establishing itself as the representative origin of xiancao in Taiwan. Xiancao is widely cultivated not only in Guansi and Qionglin Townships in Hsinchu County but also extends to Tongluo and Sanyi in Miaoli County, Xinwu District in Taoyuan City, and Fenglin Township in Hualien County, among other areas.
