Xinan Hukou Xiansheng Temple

The Xiansheng Temple, situated in a bustling urban area, presents a majestic facade with grand halls and chambers. Its entrance is marked by two ancient and quaint archways. Passing through these archways, one enters a spacious temple plaza. On either side are concrete buildings, and a stage is positioned between the two archways, used for entertaining deities and visitors during festive celebrations. A pair of stone lions guard the Sanchuan Gate. Ascending to the front corridor of the Sanchuan Hall, one finds the walls on both sides adorned with intricate stone carvings, meticulously crafted by master artisans. Stepping over the threshold into the Sanchuan Hall, this is the primary area where devotees first pay their respects upon entering the temple. Looking towards the central courtyard, the interplay of light and shadow imbues the main hall with a sense of profound mystery, solemnity, and grandeur. The left side hall houses an administrative office. Both the left and right side halls feature shrines dedicated to figures such as Yue Fei, Bao Gong, and ancestral tablets for devout followers. After passing the side halls and turning left, facing the main hall, one is struck by its brilliant splendor, every detail reflecting deep reverence and meticulous care. The temple's primary deity is the Venerable Holy Mother. To her left is enshrined Zhusheng Niangniang (Goddess of Childbirth), and to her right, Jiutian Xuan Nü (Mysterious Lady of the Nine Heavens). The second floor primarily enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva, accompanied by Guan Di (God of War) and Confucius. The décor here is notably simple and unadorned. The Xiansheng Temple observes the 23rd day of the third lunar month each year as the grand birthday celebration for the Holy Mother, with devotees from the four townships and towns under its jurisdiction taking turns to organize the event.
