Wenlin Temple in Qionglin primarily worships the Three Divine Patrons and Wenchang Emperor. It is a temple with a long and rich history, which has led to a large number of followers and flourishing incense offerings. It is not only one of the most renowned temples in the Qionglin area but also served as an important early school. Wenlin Temple was founded by the *juren* (provincial graduate) Deng Zhaoxiong during the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, it functioned as a school dedicated to nurturing local talents. During the Guangxu reign, it was re-established as the 'Wenlin Society,' becoming a place for scholars in the Touqian River basin to gather and exchange ideas through literature. It was only after this that the school was converted into a temple, officially named 'Wenlin Temple,' also known as Wenci Shrine. The temple underwent a major renovation in 1932 (the 21st year of the Republic), transforming its original earthen-walled structure into a building of red bricks and glazed tiles. The temple's current appearance is the result of a rebuilding effort around 1991 (the 80th year of the Republic). September 28th, the birthday of Confucius, marks the most solemn day of worship at Qionglin Wenlin Temple each year. The temple hosts grand celebratory events, attracting a continuous stream of devout men and women from various places, ensuring flourishing incense offerings.
