Wuzhishan Monkey Cave Trail

According to legend, Sun Wukong, who was born from the Flower-Fruit Mountain (Wuzhishan), was imprisoned in a cave and suppressed by a talisman for being too mischievous and violating heavenly rules. Thousands of years later, a typhoon blew away the talisman, causing the rock to split open again, thus giving the cave its name, "Monkey Cave." The Wuzhishan Monkey Cave Trail is approximately 900 meters long. The scenery along the way is beautiful, boasting rich primary forests and natural ecology. Walking here feels like traversing a shaded tunnel, providing a refreshing coolness. The trail is composed of stone steps and wooden boardwalks, and every approximately 100 meters, charming stone monkeys greet visitors. The trail's famous "Yixiantian" (A Ray of Sky) is a long flight of stone steps nestled between two massive rock walls. At its narrowest, it measures only about 60 centimeters. While venturing deep into it, one marvels at nature's wonders but also can't help but worry about getting stuck. If starting from the Wuzhishan Guanyin Temple Trail, after walking approximately 650 meters, you will reach Jin Gui Yan (Golden Turtle Rock), from where you can connect to the Monkey Cave Trail, leading to Wuzhishan Zaojun Temple. From the highest point of the Monkey Cave Trail, one can enjoy distant views of Zhubei City, Hsinchu City, Toufen Township (Miaoli), Zhunan Township, and other areas, offering delightful scenery.
