Visitor Essentials
The Ancient Tea Pavilion Trail is part of the Dashanbei trail system. In the past, it was the sole route for the early settlers of Dashanbei to transport agricultural products to the urban area of Hengshan Township. Life in the remote mountainous area was tough, and making a living was difficult. A local Hakka folk song sings: "Don't let your daughter marry into Dashanbei; uphill makes you pant for breath, downhill makes your back ache," illustrating the hardship of carrying loads back and forth on the ancient trail in those days. Today, it has become a popular destination for weekend hiking and recreation. The trail is about 1 kilometer long, well-maintained, and easy to walk. Along the way, you'll find Moso bamboo forests, tree ferns, and glutinous rice bridges, all exuding a strong sense of ancient charm. Strolling along, listening to the murmuring stream, offers a uniquely tranquil atmosphere.
