Daqidong Trail

The Daqidong Ancient Trail is situated in the Dashanbei area (now Fengxiang Village) of Hengshan, Hsinchu. Historically, Dashanbei residents traversed this mountain path to cross Dashanbei Mountain and reach the Zhudong area in front of the mountain. Today, the moss-covered stone steps along the ancient trail remain well-preserved. Due to the beautiful forest scenery, rich with Tung trees, citrus trees, bamboo, and other plants, it has become a renowned family-friendly hiking trail in Hsinchu. Each year in April and May, when Tung blossoms are in full bloom, numerous visitors are drawn to admire the 'May snow.' In recent years, a 'Cherry Blossom Trail,' densely planted with mountain cherry trees, has been added to the mountainside near the summit, making Daqidong even more captivating in spring. Beyond enjoying the flowers, hikers can also take in magnificent panoramic views of the Youluo River and Shangping River below, as well as the distant cities of Zhudong and Hsinchu, from the viewing platforms along the trail.
