Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Discovery Center

Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established in 1946. In its early days, it produced crude drug powders and various traditional Chinese medicine preparations (pills, powders, ointments, and elixirs). Later, it began to invest in the production of modern concentrated traditional Chinese medicine preparations, becoming a pioneer in the development of concentrated traditional Chinese medicine (scientific Chinese medicine) in Taiwan. It was not until 1966, at its Zhonghe plant, that it began mass production of high-quality concentrated traditional Chinese medicine through integrated operations. In 1976, it was the first to introduce the concept of GMP. In 1986, after inspection and evaluation by the Department of Health, it became the first pharmaceutical company in the nation to pass the Traditional Chinese Medicine GMP system evaluation. Furthermore, in 2000, it invested NT$3 billion in Zhongli to establish a Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry-Academia-Research-Education Park. Embracing a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and stringent quality control requirements, it continuously innovates. Its products, in various dosage forms, have gained widespread recognition from the medical community and are marketed worldwide. In 2018, it passed the rigorous PIC/S GMP site inspection certification by Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), an independent administrative agency. In 2020, to allow more people to understand traditional Chinese medicine, it established the Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Discovery Center, aiming to pass on the cultural knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine to the public.
