Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum – Daxi History Hall

The Daxi History Hall is estimated to have been built between Showa Year 12 and 15 of the Japanese colonial era (1937-1940 AD). It served as a Type D lower-ranking official residence and was part of Daxi's century-old police dormitory complex. Due to its form as a row of four units, it was known as the "Four-Unit Row House." The concrete structure added to the rear was an expansion built by post-war residents to meet their needs, reflecting the evolving styles from different periods of its use. On one hand, it witnessed nearly a century of Daxi's police administration evolution and changes, and on the other hand, it recorded the life trajectories of residents from different eras. In 2012 (Year 101 of the Republic of China), it was registered as a historic building. After renovation, it became a public hall of the Wood Art Ecomuseum. During the renovation, special efforts were made to preserve some of the original materials and traces of its former residents' lives.
