Nankan River Riverside Bikeway

Most towns have bikeways, but those that allow close appreciation of riverside scenery are few and far between. The Nankan River Riverside Bikeway is one of the few recreational paths that successfully blends with the natural landscape. Spanning 22 kilometers, it connects Guishan, Taoyuan, Luzhu, and Dayuan districts with parks, green spaces, and scenic bridges. Cyclists can enjoy a rare open view of the city while riding, with distinct ambiances during the day and at night. While cycling along the path, native fish species can be seen swimming leisurely in the river, and the clean water attracts many egrets to forage here. Coupled with riverbanks built from locally sourced pebbles, it resembles a picturesque ecological painting. The bikeway stretches from Nankan No. 1 Bridge in Guishan District, through Hutoushan Park, to Nankan River Bridge in Luzhu District. Along this continuous green corridor, various trees such as crape myrtle, fringe tree, peach blossoms, and Taiwanese cherry are planted, adding a vibrant green atmosphere in addition to its pastoral charm.
