Zhongli Renhai Temple

The Zhongli Renhai Temple, a foundation honored with fourth place in the Ministry of the Interior's 'Taiwan's Top 100 Religious Sites,' was founded in the 6th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1826). Primarily dedicated to Mazu, it boasts nearly 200 years of history. It was originally a joint construction by 13 settlements, including Zhongli, Pingzhen, and Yangmei. Initially, only Guanyin Bodhisattva was enshrined, but Mazu was later added. The temple has undergone five major renovations to date. As Zhongli's oldest temple, and situated in Xinjie, it is also known as the 'Xinjie Temple' (New Street Temple) and has always enjoyed a strong following of worshippers. It currently serves as a vital spiritual hub for Zhongli residents and is affectionately called 'Zhongli Mazu'.
